URBREATH: Transforming Urban Sustainability at the Data Space Symposium

URBREATH, represented by the project’s Coordinator, Dr. Francesco Mureddu, is thrilled to announce our participation in the Data Spaces Symposium held on 12-14 March 2024, in Darmstadt. We are excited to inform the participants about our project activities and share insights on our innovative approaches to urban sustainability.

The Data Spaces Symposium is set to reconvene at Darmstadtium  Frankfurt Region this year following its notable success in The Hague during the 2023 edition. Organized by the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) and the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA), this symposium is a pivotal gathering for those at the forefront of data space innovation and strategy.

Why we need to be there

Common European Data Spaces  focus on creating frameworks for data sharing that comply with European regulations and values, such as data privacy. Here, data spaces act as secure environments where data providers can share and control access to their data.  Although URBREATH project doesn’t at fist sight directly deal with the kind of data typically exchanged in these spaces (finance, energy etc.), the Symposium still holds significant value for our team, since sessions on general data governance, data access control, and data management best practices are relevant .

In fact, by joining such a conference, the project can contribute to the broader dialogue on sustainable urban development and gain insights that enhance the impact of its regreening strategies.

Moreover, the team is committed to invest in

  • Knowledge Sharing: the Symposium provides a platform to share findings and learn from the latest research and practices in the said field;
  • Networking: the Symposium offers opportunities to connect with other researchers, practitioners, and potential collaborators who have similar interests or complementary expertise;
  • Visibility: being present at a conference raises the profile of the project and can attract interest from stakeholders, including policymakers and the media;
  • Feedback: engaging with peers provides valuable feedback that can help refine the project’s approach and outcomes;
  • Innovation: exposure to new ideas and technologies at conferences can inspire innovative approaches to NBS and urban regreening;
  • Collaboration: our participation can lead to partnerships that support the scaling up of successful NBS interventions;
