About Us
Overview
URBREATH aims to develop, implement, demonstrate, validate and replicate a comprehensive urban revitalization methodology based on community and stakeholder participation focusing on greening and renaturing issues.
This process will be supported by advanced technologies that the project will further develop and test. In fact, the project will use techniques such as local digital twins and artificial intelligence, and social innovation to achieve its vision.
The climate neutrality paradigm is at the core of this methodology which aims at regenerating deprived and abandoned areas, brownfields and other problematic sites through physical transformations of the built environment and renaturing interventions that will radically enhance social interactions, inclusion, equitability and liveability in cities.
To this end, URBREATH has identified the following specific objectives.
Creation of a Stakeholders Group under the concept of the Living Labs (LL)
Establish the necessary ICT tools, methods and participatory processes for increased stakeholder participation
Establish innovative cooperative organisational models ensuring project sustainability and aiming towards systemic adoption of solutions (NBS and hybrid solutions at core) for urban regeneration and climate neutrality
Develop and demonstrate efficient and effective services, models and tools for quantitative impact assessment of the climate effects towards climate neutrality, regeneration & adaptation planning
Develop and use new combinations of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and hybrid approaches to boost the positive effects of interventions, making them more effective in improving urban/local climate neutrality, resilience, and regeneration
Create a framework for evaluating Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) through monitoring of implemented solutions in four European regions
Replication of the URBREATH methodology and tools through mentoring and coaching
Support the adoption of the sustainable URBREATH solutions for the urban/regional planning -for regeneration, resilience and climate neutrality- through extensive public awareness and dissemination activities
Develop novel business models and strategies for regional climate resilience enhancement
