The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) presented the URBREATH project at the 19th International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA 2026), held in Chania, Crete, Greece, from 12 to 15 July 2026.
PETRA is a leading international conference that brings together researchers, technology developers, and industry experts to discuss the latest advances in pervasive technologies, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, and smart environments.
During the conference, ICCS showcased the URBREATH project, presenting its vision, objectives, and innovative approach to addressing urban challenges through advanced digital technologies. In particular, ICCS presented two tools developed within the framework of URBREATH: the Crime Statistics Tool, which supports the analysis of urban crime patterns and the assessment of the potential impact of Nature-based Solutions on urban safety, and the Optimal Snow Deposit Location Tool, which supports the identification of suitable snow deposit locations through an optimization-based approach. These concrete examples demonstrated how URBREATH combines data analytics, artificial intelligence, and decision-support methodologies to address diverse urban challenges.
Presenting URBREATH at PETRA 2026 contributed to increasing the project’s visibility within the international research community, promoting knowledge exchange, and creating opportunities for future collaboration with researchers and stakeholders working on related topics.
