On 11 April 2025, the URBREATH project was represented at the International Projects Meeting in Kainuu through the participation of its regional partner, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK). Organised by the Regional Council of Kainuu, the event provided a platform for regional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and network-building in support of sustainable development in the region.
URBREATH seeks to revitalise urban areas by leveraging Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), fostering community engagement, and applying digital tools such as Local Digital Twins. KAMK plays a pivotal role in ensuring these approaches reflect the specific needs and conditions of smaller European cities like Kajaani.
By taking part in the event, KAMK contributed to raising awareness of URBREATH’s goals and identified synergies with other regional and international initiatives. Such connections are essential for transforming URBREATH’s innovations into practical, locally grounded solutions that advance climate resilience, inclusive urban development, and citizen-led transformation.
The meeting further underscored URBREATH’s commitment to bridging European research with local action—ensuring that sustainability is not merely a concept, but a tangible experience co-created by and for communities.
