TalTech proudly participated in the IV International Architectural Design Conference RIXARCH 2026, held in Riga, bringing together leading researchers, architects, and professionals to discuss the future of urban living.
Organised by the Faculty of Architecture and Design at RISEBA University, the conference explored the 2026 theme “LIV-IN”, focusing on how we live in cities today and how urban environments can evolve to become more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.
The TalTech team participated in the conference, where they presented a white paper on the success and implementation of the “Insect Highway” project in Tallinn. The presentation also highlighted Tallinn’s URBREATH pilot site next to Linnahall, introducing the project’s aims, the site’s specific characteristics, and its role as a major upcoming nature-based solutions intervention in the city.

As part of the conference programme, TalTech delivered a presentation on the URBREATH project, highlighting innovative approaches to understanding and improving urban environments. The presentation contributed to ongoing discussions on how cities function as complex, living systems—where design, technology, and human experience intersect.
URBREATH aligns closely with the conference’s central questions around livability, sustainability, and the integration of environmental and technological solutions in urban design.
TalTech’s participation in RIXARCH 2026 reflects its commitment to advancing research and innovation in urban development. Through projects like URBREATH, TalTech continues to contribute to shaping healthier, more sustainable, and human-centered cities.
We look forward to further collaborations and knowledge exchange within the international architectural and research community.
