As part of URBREATH, the City of Tallinn has launched the first episode of its new podcast, recorded live during the 2025 Tallinn Urban Space Festival. This engaging audio series aims to explore how inclusive urban planning is evolving — and why citizen involvement is becoming essential in shaping the cities of tomorrow.
Titled “Co-Creating Urban Space”, the debut episode features two guests who share their unique perspectives on what it means to design cities with – and for – local communities:
-
Lea Vutt, leader of the Co-Created City project, explores how inclusive urban environments respond to the needs and aspirations of residents. She highlights how playfulness can be a powerful driver for more engaging and people-centred spaces in Tallinn.
-
Maarja Matteus, community leader of Hundipea, shares the transformation story of a former industrial area into a vibrant, sea-facing district. She discusses the placemaking methods, the community-led research approaches, and the importance of prioritising residents’ voices in planning processes.
Hosted by Hanna Veske, urban environment designer, the episode offers an insightful conversation about the future of cities — one that places people, creativity, and collaboration at the heart of development.
This podcast marks another step in URBREATH’s mission to support nature-based, inclusive, and resilient urban transformation through shared learning and community engagement!
